The Romantics Visit Tiki’s Grill & Bar, Home of Nightly Live Music in Waikiki.

Last week, Tiki’s Grill & Bar had a fun classic rock moment when members of The Romantics joined us for dinner while they were in Honolulu for their Hawaii Theatre performance.
The legendary new wave and classic rock band was in town for a night of nostalgia at Hawaii Theatre on Friday, June 26, performing fan favorites including “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep,” and “One in a Million.”
What made the evening especially memorable at Tiki’s was how they were recognized. One of the musicians who regularly performs as part of our live music program at Tiki’s Grill & Bar spotted members of the band during dinner.
That moment says a lot about the connection between Waikiki, live music, and the people who keep the music scene alive.
At Tiki’s, live music is not just something happening in the background. It is part of the guest experience. Night after night, local musicians help create the energy, atmosphere, and aloha that guests remember from their time in Waikiki. Our live music program brings together visitors, local artists, longtime music fans, and sometimes even legendary performers who happen to be in town.
For nearly five decades, The Romantics have kept audiences singing along with their signature rock and new wave sound. Their music continues to reach new generations through television, movies, commercials, and popular shows such as Stranger Things, while reconnecting longtime fans with songs they grew up hearing.
Founding member and lead vocalist Wally Palmar has described The Romantics’ shows as energetic celebrations of the music that helped define an era. Their Honolulu performance gave fans a chance to relive those classic songs in person.
And before taking the stage, some of that classic rock energy made its way to Tiki’s.
Moments like this are a reminder that Waikiki has always had a special relationship with music. From visiting national acts to local musicians performing nightly, music helps shape the feeling of a night out in Honolulu.

The best part of every day! We are proud to feature an incredible roster of local Hawaiian musicians for both lunch and dinner. Our guests come back year after year to connect with the talented artists who bring the true spirit of aloha to life.
We were happy to welcome members of The Romantics to Tiki’s Grill & Bar and even happier that one of our own live musicians was there to recognize the moment.
Whether you are visiting Waikiki for a concert, dinner, sunset drinks, or a night of live local music, Tiki’s Grill & Bar continues to be a place where food, music, and memorable Hawaiʻi nights come together.
Mahalo to The Romantics for joining us, and mahalo to the musicians who keep live music going strong at Tiki’s every night.
